Here at Fife Exotics we offer a genuine 24/7 service where our specialist team can help you with your clinical problems and guide you through the paperwork that allows cases to be sent to us.

Step 1: Register With Us
​
Your clinic will need to register with us as one of our referral practices, before sending us any cases or asking for advice. This is so we can prioritise providing the best support for your clinic. We accept referrals from all practices in Scotland.​ To register with us please click here to compose an email with your details including: the name of the referring practice, the practice address, email and phone number and the name of the referring vet.

Step 2: Triage and Care For Them Until We Can
​
Once registered, our team will be able to help you triage and provide emergency supportive care for your patients overnight with referral for emergency work as needed on a case by case basis. Our aim is to empower your emergency teams to deal with an exotic patient and ease their anxiety. Should a patient require urgent care from our team we are happy to accept referrals out of normal working hours. These will receive emergency and critical care until routine opening hours, when more complex procedures are undertaken unless we deem an emergency procedure critical. For advice and case notes you can simply email them over to us on contact@exoticvets.co.uk. Our team is small, so although someone responding may not have been the primary point of contact, please know that we are all involved behind the scenes and are each aware of your case details.

If you wish to make the process easier...
​
Once you have decided to refer a patient, your clients can register directly with us and book an appointment slot to be seen as a referral case online. They just need to visit the 'BOOK' page of this website www.exoticvets.co.uk. Then we simply cross check with you via email, prior to accepting the case. There is no need to be chasing around trying to get an appointment booked and catch each other on the phone. The system is as simple as can be.

If you would rather the patient transfer to us directly (we understand not everyone loves exotics hehe), then that is also not a problem, they just simply register online as a general practice client and book a routine appointment to become a client. We will then get the details from you and confirm you are happy with them transferring to us. Clients must register online and have a health check of their pet undertaken before they can use our out of hours service (unless you've transferred their case to us as an emergency). This is to ensure our small team who work during the day followed by being on call can prioritise care for our clients only.

We also offer CPD to our registered referral clinics onsite at Fife Zoo and can arrange a visit to you to provide bespoke learning opportunities. Feel free to also make use of our online resources or contact us via email.
